Russell is a skilled sales and sales leadership coach and currently works with clients to help improve the effectiveness of their sales strategy and initiatives. Russell brings to the David Reid Group the benefits of his knowledge gained through over 20 years of success in selling to some of the most notable businesses throughout Australia.

Russell began his career working in the Hospitality Industry in 1980. It was here that he learned the value of customer service and the importance of its link to sales and sales success. Russell’s experience managing sales started when he took the positions of Food &Beverage Manager and General Manager for UK giant Grand Metropolitan Hotels.

Russell moved to Australia in 1987 and commenced selling to some of Australia’s major corporations up and down the East Coast. Russell’s success started after a process of cold-calling these major Corporates and generating his own leads. In order to survive in the competitive Australian market it was imperative that he understand the complexity of how business decisions are made; how to get in front of the right buyer; and finally, how to sell to those businesses and win them over. Russell achieved this with a great degree of success and quickly established himself as a high profile sales professional in Australia, personally selling complex solutions to some of Australia’s most well-known companies including: Foxtel, Mitsubishi Electrical, Sky Channel, Macquarie University, James Hardie, Mirvac, Netcomm, Schweppes, BHP and Boral.

Russell has been a leading sales performer in every company he has worked for, including NEC Australia, MICROPAY, and ADP Employer Services. His area of expertise is specializing in Business to Business sales of complex

 

 
 


business solutions. From 1994, Russell worked for six years as the Senior Sales Consultant for MICROPAY, an owned subsidiary of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. In this role, Russell was consistently in the top five sales achievers Australia-wide. Russell’s expertise as a proven business generator has been highly sought after on the East Coast. It was during his time working in the Eastern States that Russell first sold alongside David Reid.

In addition to Russell’s first-hand sales expertise and experience, he has accrued over twenty years in comprehensive sales training and development programs. Russell is a highly competent sales trainer and effective sales coach and, more recently, he has moved into a sales consulting and sales coaching capacity, working with businesses wanting to grow their client base from a sales or sales strategy perspective.

As part of the David Reid Group and in line with its philosophies, Russell is working with clients to strengthen the effectiveness of their sales initiatives. The areas in which Russell works with his clients include: effective sales management processes; building and managing a sales pipeline; lead generation initiatives; high level negotiation skills; getting in front of the right decision-maker; cold-calling and making it work; and maintaining high level performance.
