As many of you may remember, last year David Reid won a coveted spot in Western Australia’s 40 Under 40 Awards, run annually by the WA Business News.
DRG is a big supporter of the awards and of the recognition they provide to dynamic business achievements in Perth. This year, David Reid continued his support for the Awards, by nominating a fellow businessman
– Mr Romano Sala Tenna.
In this month’s From the DRG Network we feature a profile on Romano and his win at this year’s 40 Under 40 Awards.
Romano Sala Tenna has always wanted to be a stockbroker. From his childhood days on he knew that there was one profession out there for him.
Growing up on an orchard in the hills was however, not particularly conducive to aspirations for the ASX, but Romano’s determination would overcome this unusual starting point. Coming from a traditional rural background, Romano was the fist person in his family to graduate from University, but was no stranger to hard work.
During his University career, Romano’s dedication to his dream saw him achieve numerous scholarships and subject distinctions. Finally in 1994, after much study, he lodged his first application to become a stockbroker, and the dream became a reality.
Getting a foot in the door within the stockbroking industry would prove to be difficult, and two years of applications and rejections would follow. Eventually in 1994 Romano was offered a trainee position in a small firm in Perth.
Since the start of those early days of his career, Romano has continued to achieve stockbroking success due to his mix of honesty, integrity and determination. In an industry that is fuelled by pure competition, Romano has made a name for himself for surpassing ruthless competition by doing things ‘the right way’. He is now Retail and Corporate Adviser at Bell Securities Ltd and Investment Manager of Katana Capital Ltd. More recently he has co-founded a recruitment organisation - InterStaff Recruitment Ltd.
